ADR/VOICE OVER

So when all else fails? Engine Room takes a different approach to ADR. Drawing from years of recording music artists, approach the ADR process searching for the perfect take. For us this doesn't happen by sticking Pro Tools in loop record and hoping for the best. This happens by allowing the actor to feel like the artist they are and helping them find their way back to the character. Combine the "perfect take" with the expertise of our Dialog editors, and you end up with ADR that transcends just basic lip sync. We don't see ADR as a last resort...we understand it as an opportunity!

SOUND SUPERVISION

It all starts here! From the very first meeting with the director, Engine Room Studios approaches Sound Supervision like no other. A collaboration of experts and artists, discussing, listening, imagining all the possibilities of your films sound. Discovering the "unique thread" that Engine Room will weave into a sonic texture soon to become your film's soundtrack. It's the "idea", uniquely created, perfectly executed, and hand delivered, that makes our Sound Supervision result in a product that’s exactly the way you heard it – only better.

SOUND DESIGN / EFFECTS

This is where the real fun occurs.

It’s here – and hear - your film really comes to life. Creating the provocative voice of your creature, or the futuristic weapon of a rogue army, or the purr of a car that’s yet to be built - this is that thrilling time when you begin to hear/see your idea realized.

FOLEY

For Engine Room, Foley recording is just plain FUN! This is when the Foley artists dig into the prop closet, jump in the Foley pits, fall down, break things, and throw things. If you’re lucky, you might even catch us in a pair of heels. It’s an opportunity for us to head out to the stage, and make unique sounds for an actor’s on screen action. It’s a process you have to experience with us! sometime. It’s a great kind of noise we get to make.

DIALOG EDITING

In our opinion, great dialog is the Holy Grail of Post Audio. It’s a delicate process that requires an even more delicate touch. Ideally, it should start with good production tracks, but the reality too often is that sacrifices and compromises get made on the set and the expectation is that Engine Room will fix it in post. The good news is, we can – and will. (Just a few of the earmazing tricks up our sleeves.) Rest assured, your dialog is safe in our pro-active Pro Tool hands. We do what it takes to make the best-sound-happen – and make double-triple-sure your production tracks are cleaned, tweaked, balanced, Eq'ed, and sounding totally ear-resistible.

MUSIC EDITING

Cutting score to fit perfectly into a scene is something that comes naturally to Engine Room. For many years we’ve edited music for hundreds of record labels. We've mastered and re-edited soundtracks for films like Pan's Labyrinth, Flags for our Fathers, and Alpha Dog. As DJs, we’ve mastered the art blending music tracks and making music transitions seamless. We know how to intensify the emotion and movement of scene by selecting the perfect clip from a song. Music is our passion. Editing music for film is an art we have perfected.
